Possibly, one of the most popular shoes Adidas has ever made was the Superstar.... Now, 35 years later in 2005, in celebration of Adidas' 35th anniversary since the first Superstar was released, Adidas have produced a number of distinguished models to commemorate this achievement. These have been specially designed n conjunction with Adidas' partners in music (Music series), art (Expression series) and fashion (Consortium series) as well the City series. "The Expression Series captures the spirit and shared influence of art, photography and graffiti throughout the history of the Superstar." Only 4000 pairs of each style from the Music and Expressionist series have been produced. Only a handful of stores received these limited-edition Superstar models which were distributed in only small quantities of each style and size. Lee Quinones is considered without question the grand expressionist, the Jackson Pollack of the New York Graffiti Art Movement. His tool is the spray can and his works touch on NYC and the subway overtures. An artist whose career has spanned over three decades. Each pair comes with 3 different sets of laces - a thick Olive printed, a very thin light brown pair and an olive pair comes laced up on these impressive Superstars. This model is like one of Lee's canvas's showing the trains of the subway and the state of Liberty. Both the 3-stripes and real heel counter are accented in a shiny patent-like material that really breaks out the canvas and finishes off this sensational-looking shoe. Ice soles have captured Lee Quinones (printed) signature tag. All shoes come packaged in a special 35th Anniversary white box with their hang tag attached, wrapped in special tissue paper. The underside of each box is neat, showing all the 35th Anniversary models with their production numbers. Men's US Size - Sold Out 7 March 2005 |
