Prior to signing with Nike, Kobe Bryant was in a position where he wore a number of different shoes over the course of one NBA season, before making his decision to sign with Nike. Many of the shoe companies supplied all sorts of shoes. During that time, one of the shoes that he wore was this special retro Air Flight Huarache colorway, that complemented the LA Lakers home and away uniforms.

Around ten years ago, this was one of the massively hip signature shoes of the well-known Fab Five from Michigan University which included Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, and Juwan Howard among others.

This was one of three shoes along with the running and cross-training in the 'Huarache' footwear line. A revolutionary shoe with its unique outrigger structure at the heel together with its trademark inner sock bootie to ease the shoe over the foot.
