RareAirShoes.com Exclusive In 1987 when the first Air Trainer was released, it was designed by Tinker Hatfield who's aim was to have a shoe that could be used for a wide of activities, an "all-purpose" shoe. The Air Trainer has a full-length air unit with a flexible forefoot combined with soft leather and durabuck uppers. In 1988, Nike expanded the Air Trainer line and produced the Air Trainer TW, which was a light-weight, low-cut option in styles with and without a forefoot strap. "The 'TW' is said to stand for 'Totally Washable' as you could toss them in the machine with your gym gear." The Air Trainer line was fully endorsed by baseball star Bo Jackson, and the following year in 1989, the new version of the TW was named the Air Trainer TW Lite. This super-rare pair of trainers is in pristine condition, within in its original box, and even comes with its original hang-tag (unattached). It is also interesting to note the color scheme used on this shoe from this era, which is similar to colorways of the Air Jordan III (1988) and the Air Jordan IV (1989).
