Originally released in 1993 by Converse during the 'sneaker wars' was one of the most popular basketball shoes all-time, the Converse Aero Jam.

This shoe made famous by Larry Johnson, aka "Grandma-ma" power forward of the Charlotte Hornets, and reigning Rookie of the Year made an immediate after averaging over 19ppg after being drafted as the consensus #1 Draft Pick in 1991. The shoe suited the rugged forward who played the game at an incredible level before falling to injuries and retiring in 2001. There were a number of distinctive features which endeared people to the shoe, especially the advertising campaign which was run, using Larry Johnson dressed up as a "Grandma-ma" in posters, magazines and the infamous TV commercials. of which there were nine in total! You might remember LJ dunking on the court or the grandmother who lived in the shoe, just to name a few...It was also known for its unique (at the time) lace cover/saver which had more recently at the time been used on skating shoes.  This shoe also put Converse’s light and fast REACT™ “juice” cushioning technology shoes on the map.

In 2004/05, this retro was released 'on the low' in the original colorway without too much fanfare, in limited quantities as Converse retro their classic's and quietly disappeared from shelves and is rarely seen.  Once again it features black nubuck uppers with teal accents just like the days of old!
