RareAirShoes.com Australian Exclusive Where do you begin to start with such a classic shoe? This Reebok Omnilite limited-edition colorway was only released as a Japanese (JPE) exclusive, with reports suggesting there was no more than 5000 pairs produced. As with most shoes made by for the Japanese market or by the Japanese themselves, they have been manufactured using 6 different materials on their uppers, combining various full-grain and synthetic leathers. On each shoe there is a small metal 'JPE' tag threaded on the laces. One very, very notable feature on this specific colorway is the similarity of the color of the soles to one of the original Reebok Pump shoes we had available some time ago. The below colorway uses the same colors, but in a slightly reverse fashion. The shoes also come in a huge Reebok 'Classic' box with the 'JPE' near the stylecode and with the Union Jack on top of the lid. In the early 90's Reebok had its 'Pump' and Nike had its 'Air' and locked horns to corner the basketball and cross-trainer market. There were few kids who didn't want a pair of Pumps! The Reebok Omni Zone II was released by Reebok in 1991. This was the shoe that people may recall that the Boston Celtic rookie at the time, Dee Brown wore when he won his Slam Dunk title. He wore the Black/White-Orange colorway and pumped them up right before he commenced his winning jam! Upon completing his winning dunk, he bent forward (the crowd went silent) to deflate his shoes (to the crowd's delight!)... a magic moment for the Reebok Pump. A rich, full-grain leather upper with its distinctive orange Basketball 'Pump' on the tongue gave a unique look to this shoe, as with most Reebok Pumps at the time. The Omni Zone contains a 'Full System' inflatable lining inside the shoes so to support the ankle, midfoot and heel, whilst the Hexalite gives added cushioning to the heel and sole areas of the foot. According to Reebok, "The Pump System lets you surround your foot with just the right support where you need it most. Squeeze The Pump to inflate the lining inside your shoes. The more you squeeze, the better the fit. You determine what feels right. The release valve gives you complete control for a perfect fit every time. Men's US Size - Sold Out 24 January 2004 |
