In 1986/87 Nike released the "Terminator" which had clearly defined "NIKE" on the rear of the heel, adopted the nickname "Big Nike". In the NBA, this shoe was popular among many players of the era.

Since 2004, Nike has retroed the 'Terminator' in a number of colorways, including a new low-cut. However, in late June 2004 a special event was planned at both 'Undefeated' stores in Santa Monica and La Brea for the release of a number of super-limited Terminator low and high-cut styles called the 'A5 Athlete Terminator' Pack. Nike has revolutionised the ol' Terminator by increasing the cushioning by adding 'Zoom' innersoles (as used in SB Dunks).

The athletes featured in the Nike 'A5 Athlete Terminator' Pack were Steve Nash (Dallas Mavericks but now at Phoenix Suns), Lebron James (Cleveland Cavaliers), Dirk Nowitzki (Dallas Mavericks), Jermaine O'Neal (Indiana Pacers) and Amare Stoudemire (Phoenix Suns). Each of the shoes feature the player's name or nickname on the rear and innersole of the shoe and match their team's colours.

These shoes were only available exclusively through 'Undefeated'. At the Santa Monica store, there was an exclusive basketball kit that featured an 'Undefeated' kit bag, canteen, canteen cover and athlete ball together with the shoes, whilst at the La Brea store the shoes were sold shoe only.

How limited was the Nike A5 Athlete Terminator Pack?

Very! In fact, there was only 75 pairs made of the 'Stat' Nike Zoom Terminator Hi featuring Amare Stoudemire and the 'Nash' Nike Zoom Terminator Low, whilst the rarest is the 'Sixx' Nike Zoom Terminator Low of Jermaine O'Neal with a mere 40 pairs produced!

These shoes are truly rare and would enhance any shoe collection or player/team collection.
