RareAirShoes.com Australian Exclusive On November 11, 2004 limited quantities of each footwear design were available at Niketowns across the USA, in a unique partnership between Doernbecher Children's Hospital and Nike. Here, five young cancer patients have created one-of-a-kind footwear designs using Nike shoes as their canvas.
Air Zoom FC - Michael Libro, 12 year-old from Gladstone, Oregon Air Zoom Angus - Daymon Abbott, 12 year-old from Hillsboro, Oregon Air Zoom FC - Laurie Miller, 10 year-old from Turner, Oregon Air Zoom FC - Leah Heilman-Pollack, 15 year-old from Corvallis, Oregon Air Zoom FC - Krystal Salsky, 17 year-old from Milwaukee, Oregon
What is Daymon's inspiration behind the shoe? "Daymon's Doernbecher Freestyle shoe is dedicated to his 10-year-old brother and bone marrow donor, Dallas, whose camouflage skate gear inspired its unique color scheme. Although designed for Dallas, Daymon says the shoe is for anybody who "hangs loose and doesn't play by the rules." Each pair comes with its own special hangtag, unique to its own shoe and extra set of laces. Although Nike won't disclose exact numbers of the number of shoes produced, there is roughly 13,000 pairs in total of all 5 styles, equating to no more than 2600 pairs of each style. Proceeds will benefit Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation to support research, health care for uninsured children and new advances in medical technology. Men's US Size - 11 |
