On November 11, 2004 limited quantities of each footwear design were available at Niketowns across the USA, in a unique partnership between Doernbecher Children's Hospital and Nike. Here, five young cancer patients have created one-of-a-kind footwear designs using Nike shoes as their canvas.

What is Krystal's inspiration behind the shoe?

"Krystal is an outgoing girl and a perpetual optimist with an enthusiastic, bubbly personality, which is illustrated by her colorful design scheme. Its bright white base, blue Swoosh design and pink trim make a bold statement that reveals her artistic tendencies."

Each pair comes with its own special hangtag, unique to its own shoe and extra set of laces.

Although Nike won't disclose exact numbers of the number of shoes produced, there is roughly 13,000 pairs in total of all 5 styles, equating to no more than 2600 pairs of each style.

Proceeds will benefit Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation to support research, health care for uninsured children and new advances in medical technology.
